There are many active temples in Kinmen because local people take spiritual well-being quite seriously. Incense smoke carries worshipers' wishes skyward. Loud gongs, drums, and firecrackers are expressions of genuine gratitude.  Following a long line of tradition, many Kinmen people's schedules are directly impacted by activities in the temples throughout the year.
